Fall begins tradeshow and conference season and Walker Barrier Systems has been present at several.  Starting in October we had a booth at InterPhex Puerto Rico where we featured posters of our isolators and booths as well as our new Clean Air Barrier (CAB) isolator and updates on our Accel NO2 generator.
At the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists annual meeting in Chicago later in October we featured an actual CAB isolator.

At the PDA Microbiology Annual Conference in Bethesda at the end of October, the focus was on sterility test isolators and the Accel generator.

Our last show of the year is at the ISPE Annual Meeting,  November 11-13 in San Francisco.  Hope to see you there.

Integration of Tray Dryers and Nutsche Filter in a Containment Isolator System

Peter Schofield recently composed a white paper on a recent project that was delivered to a Pharmaceutical customer. The paper is entitled "Integration of Tray Dryers and Nutsche Filter in a Containment Isolator System". A short description follows.

Walker Barrier Systems was tasked with providing a system to contain potent and toxic active pharmaceutical compounds to 0.5µg/m³ exposure level (TWA over operation duration), for an existing Lab space. The unit was designed for product filtration, drying in vacuum heat oven, hand sieving and discharging and final dispensing for further processing, using a Hicoflex system, for an existing Laboratory. The isolator was to be multi-purpose, and therefore, not only is the aspect of containment considered in the design, but also cleanability to prevent cross-contamination. The chamber had to operate in an inert atmosphere using nitrogen, so the isolator was equipped with an oxygen sensing system, which would maintain an atmosphere within the enclosure to £ 2% oxygen using customer supplied nitrogen. All components inside the chamber were to be rated for a Class 1 Div 1 environment and controlled using PLC controls.

The whitepaper in its entirety will be posted on our website soon. Other white papers covering topics from downflow booth containment screens to validating a sterility test isolator can be found here as well.

Containment & Aseptic Processing Solutions Seminar

Walker Barrier Systems, along with co-host M&O Perry will be presenting the 3rd “Containment and Aseptic Processing Solutions” seminar this fall.  In past years we have presented this seminar in New Jersey and in North Carolina.  For 2012, we are taking the seminar west.  On September 11th we will be at the Hilton Garden Inn in S. San Francisco CA.  The seminar then moves south to San Marcos, CA on September 13th.

Some of the topics to be presented include containment solutions, fill technology and nitrogen dioxide decontamination of isolators.   Our speakers have many years of industry experience.  Both programs start with a lunch and end with a cocktail hour.  For the Agenda/Registration form, visit our website at www.walkerbarrier.com or contact Tiffany Anderson at 608-562-7713 to register.

INTERPHEX 2012 is over and was very successful for Walker Barrier Systems.  Our new Clean Air Barrier Isolator introduced at the show was sold on the second day.  We also received many inquiries on our new glove leak tester and interest in the Accel Generator.

PDA Annual

Just got back from the PDA Annual Conference in Phoenix AZ.  Great response to our introduction of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) as a decontamination agent. David Opie of Noxilizer gave a talk on the use of nitrogen dioxide for syringe decontamination as an alternative to ETO. NO2 is an exclusive license from Noxilizer, Inc. for the use of Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) in decontamination generators. Next stop is INTERPHEX in New York City May 01-03. We will be exhibiting our new CAB isolator and glove tester and a poster on nitrogen dioxide decontamination of an isolator. See us at booth 3414.

New Products by Walker Barrier Systems

The Clean Air Barrier Isolator by Walker Barrier Systems is a new isolator concept which provides standard features for laboratory use in a cost friendly package.

This isolator features a 316L stainless steel chamber, 304 stainless steel exterior, (4) removable access panels, available in positive or negative pressure, ability to change HEPA filters via glove ports, full view front with inflatable gasket hinged openings, customizable utility panel and floor drain.

Another new product is our Glove Leak Tester.  The test plug fits into the glove port and is sealed in place using an inflatable gasket.  The glove/sleeve assembly is inflated.  Pressure and flow values are displayed on the HMI during testing.  A complete test cycle takes about 8 minutes and will detect a hole as small as a 25 gauge needle.

See both these new products at INTERPHEX in New York City, May 01 -03.
